Carols By Candlelight Service – December 16th 6pm
On Sunday December 16 at 6pm it is our Carols by Candlelight service. More details will follow but this is just to let you know that Seaford Handbell Ringers will be joining us this year to add some seasonal sounds. Hope you will be able to bring friends family and neighbours so the church is packed.
Rough sleepers in Brighton
As many of you know during the winter months in recent years I have done some volunteering in this area and the church has been very supportive, but the venue where I have been working is not operating this year. However, I am delighted to say that I have already been given well over 100 new items of handknitted hats, gloves and scarves and sleeping bags by various folks in the church....without me even asking!! All of the items donated have been delivered to Antifreeze. A Christian charity working with rough sleepers in Brighton. You can find out more of their brilliant work by looking on their website. They were really appreciative. A HUGE thank you, Peter.
Church Christmas Decorations
We will be doing this at 10am TOMORROW (Monday). Do come and help if you can and it should not take too long. If you have any unwanted baubles or imitation Christmas trees we may be able to use them. Thank you.
Word for Today
Many folks have enjoyed using Word for Today during the last year and we will continue to supply in 2019. If you want a diary/journal for 2019 to jot down all that you are continuing to learn there is a quantity at the back of the church at just £1 each. Please pop your £1 coin in the bowl and help yourself to a diary. First come ...first served!!
Christmas Breakfast invite.
Telscombe Town Council opens the Civic Centre in Central Avenue to residents offering a Christmas breakfast of sausage/bacon roll, tea and coffee from 10-12 Christmas day morning and we would absolutely love to see anyone from your congregation at the Ascension. This invitation comes from all the councillors of Telscombe Cliffs. (Note from vicar!! Please note as Stuart knows there are plenty of rolls going after 11am!! Church first!)
Community Carol Service 14th December 2018 6pm
We are being given 10 tickets for the Community Carol service by Deborah Donavan (Marketing Officer Peacehaven Council). This year the Salvation Army are providing the music for the Carols with soloists singing various Christmas Carols. This takes place in the main hall of the Meridian Centre. Do sign up to come and support this and you will get a ticket.
We will be making up the Christingle oranges on Sunday 23rd Dec at 3pm in the church. If you are free to come along and help we would love to see you. Refreshments will be provided.
Prayer Time After Church
Starting from today every Sunday after the service there will be folks available to pray for anyone in the congregation who wishes to be prayed with privately. I have asked 2 or 3 people to be available each week in The Sussex Chapel. Just pop in there straight after the service. If the team is already praying with someone please sit in the main church until they are free. Do also feel free to hand a note with a prayer request. When this has been done occasionally, previously, there has been much blessing. Thus I felt it was the right time to make this available every week. You may wish for prayer for healing, encouragement, wisdom in making a decision, or many other things. Our God is interested in the little things as well as the bigger decisions. I am sure you will be blessed. Tim Mills
There is a Prayer Meeting on Tuesday 11th December at 7 pm in the Sussex Chapel.
